Recently, during a Jazz Vespers event at Abyssinian Baptist Church, it was rewarding to hear a mixture of aspiring and established musicians.
Most impressionable among the newcomers was alto saxophonist Brandon Primus. Not only does he possess powerful chops and a mastery of circular breathing to good effect, is also a true student of the music’s history and knows how to present it with integrity and sensitivity.
